Updated on May 8, 2012

The power of modern day mobile processors has reached the same level of desktop processors. Now dual core and quad core processor phones have come to market offering almost same performance as our recent core2Duo processor of desktops. The main advantage of dual core processor in mobile phones is the increased capability of multitasking. As dual core processors is common in above 30k phones. I am listing those dual core processor phones priced below 30k

Motorola Razr XT910
Motorola Razr XT910

Motorola RAZR XT910 (Price Rs.29000)

This Android 2.3 phone runs on a 1.2GHz dual core ARM processor. It also packs separate PowerVR graphics processor and 1GB RAM. 4.3 inch super AMOLED display with qHD resolution of 960x540 offers superb display backed by the powerful graphics card. It also contains 8MP primary camera with LED flash and secondary front camera of 1.3MP for video calling. Primary camera is capable of recording videos with 1080p full HD resolution. Also 3 built in microphones help you to record sound with superb clarity. Battery of 1780mAh is capable of supporting the phone for a long time. It also contains 16GB internal memory, microHDMI port, TV output etc

If you want to site some problems for the phone, you can find that it support only microSIM and also the HDMI port is a mini HDMI port.

Samsung Galaxy S2
Samsung Galaxy S2

Samsung Galaxy S2 (Price. Rs.27800)

It is one of the most popular Android phones in the market. It runs on 1.2GHz dual core cortex A9 processor supported by PowerVR graphics processor and 1GB RAM. 4.27 inch WVGA super AMOLED screen with resolution 480x800 offers superb display. It also comes with a 8MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. Primary camera is capable of recording full HD videos (1080p resolution). Battery of 1650mAh is long lasting. The phone also offers 16GB internal storage.

In order to site as a con of the phone, the touchwiz UI of the phone is still far behind the sense UI of HTC. Also it is a bit over priced as there are more choices in the market which are less priced.

HTC EVO 3D
HTC EVO 3D

HTC EVO 3D (Price Rs.25500)

It is another good dual core Android phone available in market with sub 30k budget. Another peculiarity of the phone is that it has 3D display. It possess good hardware specifications and Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Processor is 1.2GHz scorpion dual core processor. The presence of adreno 220 graphics card offers superior rendering of 3D display of qHD resolution. Ram is 1GB. Display is 4.3 inch capcitive 3D display. 5MP primary camera with dual LED flash is capable of recording 720p HD videos. This camera also can record 3D images upto 2MP resolution. There is a secondary front camera of 1.3MP for video calling. This phone possess a gyroscopic sensor in addition to regular accelerometer sensor, which can offer superior 3D position sensing. The phone also has DLNA and HDMI connectivity. Battery capacity is 1730mAh.

If you look for the cons of the phone, you can find that it has only 1GB internal storage, which will be emptying soon. Prolonged use of the 3D display will cause eye fatigue, but as a first generation 3D phone this phone performs well, in future you can expect more.

HTC Sensation
HTC Sensation

HTC Sensation (Price Rs.24000)

This is another offering from HTC to the set of Android phones with dual core processor. It is comparable with HTC EVO 3D. In both phones most of the features are almost same. It also possess 1.2 GHz dual core processor, adreno 220 GPU, gyro sensor, qHD resolution 4.3 inch dispaly etc and 1GB internal memory.

In this phone camera of 8MP is much superior compared to HTC EVO 3D, if you neglect 3D capability. This phone is capable of recording videos at full HD(1080p) resolution. RAM is 768MB compared to 1GB in EVO. Front camera is of 0.3MP. Battery of 1520mAh is good enough.

In this phone also the same problem in HTC EVO 3D is remaining. 1GB internal storage is not enough. But with the presence of expandable memory card slot we can overcome this problem up to some extent.

Motorola Atrix 2 (Price Rs.22500)

This is a real value for money phone which offers features you cannot find in any of the similarly priced mobile currently available in the market. Its hardware specifications include 1GHz dual core Cortex A9 processor, PowerVr graphics processor and 1GB RAM. All these specifications ensure superb multitasking capabilities. Primary camera of 8MP with LED flash is capable of recording videos at full HD (1080p) resolution. Secondary camera of 0.3MP is also present. 4.3 inch TFT display of resolution 960x540 offers good screen resolution, but it would have been much better if AMOLED display was present. Internal memory of 8GB and memory card slot expandable up to 32GB ensures good data storage capacity. Battery of 1785mAh capacity is also more than what you can expect for this price.

All specification of the phone is just stunning and is more than what you can expect for the price, only expect the display. For the display even though qHD resolution is there, it would have been more good if it was an AMOLED display

Samsung Galaxy Advance
Samsung Galaxy Advance

Samsung Galaxy Advance (Price. Rs.20500)

It is the most recent dual core Android phone compared to other phones listed. It is running on 1GHz cortex A9 dual core processor with 768MB RAM. It is available in two versions with 8GB and 16GB internal storage. It is running on Android 2.3 Ginger bread, which is upgradable to Android 4.0. It also possess separate GPU to provide superb graphics performance. The 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash is capable of shooting 720p HD videos. Front camera of 1.3MP is available for making video calls.

Super AMOLED display with resolution 400x800 in 4 inch size offers 233pi, which offers crystal clear display. Also the corning Gorilla glass display makes sure, your screen is scratch resistant. The phone also have DLNA connectivity in addition to the normal connectivity methods like WIFI, bluetooth etc. It enables the phone to stream content from other media devices. It also has a 1500mAh battery which can power the phone for one full day.

If you check the specifications of the phone, you can see that its features are just one step below Galaxy S 2, but surely the performance is comparable to Galaxy S2. Also most of the features are same as Galaxy R, which Samsung stopped production without giving much information. Anyway it is a good choice for those who tried but could not get a piece of Galaxy R.

Micromaxx superfone A85
Micromaxx superfone A85

Micromax superfone A85 (Price. Rs.19500)

As usual, if you want to buy value for money phones, you have to go for Indian brands like Micromax, spice etc. In case of android phones with dual core processor also micromax is the company with lowest price tag. It comes with specifications like 1GHz Cortex A9 processor,Gforce GPU, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal memory etc. But the Android version is 2.2 froyo is a bit old, considering that the world has moved to Android 4.0 Ice cream sandwich. Primary camera of 5MP is capable of 720p HD recording. Also there is a secondary camera of 0.3MP for video calling.

3.8 inch capacitive TFT touch screen with gorilla glass display offers 480x800 resolution also. This offers good clarity display. Battery of 1500mAh is capable of running the phone for one full day, even with the battery sucking 1GHz dual core processor. But the price of the phone is not much low, considering that there are phones with much better configuration just above the 20k budget, like the phones listed above. if it was priced near 15k this would have been a better option.

In the list of Android phones with dual core processor still there are some phones like Samsung Galaxy R and Optimus 2X. Both of these phones have good specifications at affordable price. But unfortunately they are not currently available in the market.

If you are ready to wait for one month, there is a range of dual core phones coming to the market.
